About Luminary Consulting

Why Luminary exists

Mission-driven organizations are doing some of the most consequential work in the world. They are building economic futures for communities the mainstream economy was never designed to include. They are solving the persistent challenges that markets alone cannot fix and governments alone cannot sustain. They are empowering people and places that have been left behind, left out, or simply never counted in the first place. And they are building the businesses, cooperatives, and financial institutions that make all of it possible in the long run.

Those leaders deserve the same quality of strategic partnership that the most well-resourced organizations in the world take for granted. Luminary exists to close that gap.

Cross-Sector Range

A practice built on depth & breadth

Most advisors know one world deeply. The value here is different. It comes from having worked at senior levels across diverse industries and contexts, and on the front lines of a world where disruption and change are growing exponentially.

The through line is not a sector. It is a particular kind of challenge: high stakes, real complexity, and a leader who needs a partner who has seen enough to be genuinely useful. In practice, this looks like:

  • Strategic planning and long-term visioning
  • Organizational AI Strategy, Systems and Automation
  • Change management and organizational transformation
  • Embedded executive leadership during transitions and turnarounds
  • Impact measurement and return on mission analysis
  • Market research, policy environment analysis, and risk evaluation
  • Operational systems design and implementation
  • OKR development and performance/accountability frameworks
  • Leadership coaching and development programming
  • Stakeholder engagement and community strategy
  • Grant writing and funding development

Dustin Daniels

Founder and CEO, Luminary Consulting

dustin@dustindaniels.com

Dustin Daniels is an economist, entrepreneur, and organizational strategist who has spent his career working alongside leaders and organizations at the most consequential moments. He has advised and led at the highest levels across major public institutions, tribal communities, early-stage enterprises, credit unions, civil rights organizations, social impact ventures, policy institutes, and other mission-driven organizations of every variety, across more than ten countries. He is the Founder and CEO of Luminary Consulting, collaborating and leading diverse practitioners and consultants from around the world to deliver world class results for partners and projects in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

He brings something that is genuinely difficult to find in a single advisor: the analytical depth to understand what is actually happening in an organization, the operational experience to know what is actually possible, and the relationship credibility to deliver an honest assessment that leaders can act on. The counsel is useful not because it is optimistic, but because it is grounded.

The breadth of his experience, across sectors, organization types, and countries, is not something that happened by accident. It reflects a deliberate orientation toward complexity and a belief that the most valuable counsel comes from having been tested in many different kinds of rooms. The leaders he works with tend to face challenges that do not fit a single industry's conventional wisdom. That is exactly the terrain this practice was designed for.

Dustin is a first-generation college graduate and holds degrees from Florida State University, the London School of Economics, and the Broad Center for Urban Education. He teaches economics and social research methods at Florida State University and the College of Charleston.
